HONG KONG -- Taiwan's share prices closed 0.34 percent lower on Friday with the weighted index falling 28.05 points to close at 8,209.78, according to news reaching here from Taipei.

The local bourse fluctuated between 8,277.56 and 8,72.54 during the day's trading. Turnover totaled 82.96 billion new Taiwan dollars (about 2.77 billion U.S. dollars) during the trading session.
